Bilbies Take Flight — Charleville to Launch New Bilby Art Trail at Wings on the Warrego

Charleville is preparing for a spectacular fusion of art, conservation and aviation as the Charleville Bilby Art Trail officially launches at the Charleville Airport during this year's Wings on the Warrego event on Saturday 12 September — the day before National Bilby Day.

The highlight of the launch will be the unveiling of the airport's very own artist-designed bilby sculpture — the first of many enchanting creations that will soon form a colourful trail throughout the town. This sculpture will be permanently housed at the Charleville Airport, greeting travellers with a burst of creativity and a reminder of the region's commitment to protecting one of Australia's most iconic endangered species.

Guests attending Wings on the Warrego can look forward to bilby-themed fun woven into the excitement of the airshow, creating a uniquely Charleville celebration of wildlife, community and flight. The festivities include free entry to the Charleville Bilby Experience at the Visitor Information Centre throughout Sunday — a wonderful opportunity to learn more about bilby conservation and meet the team working tirelessly to protect them.

The Charleville Bilby Art Trail is set to become one of the town's most imaginative cultural attractions. Inspired by the beloved bilby, the trail will feature a series of artist-designed sculptures placed throughout Charleville, with each sculpture telling its own story and reflecting the region's heritage, creativity and deep connection to the natural environment.

Visitors will be invited to wander the town like treasure hunters, discovering each bilby sculpture and experiencing Charleville as an open-air gallery that celebrates both artistic expression and wildlife preservation.
